Today we have another in the series of biology research web applications that we started with Insect Research Primer Tutorial โฆ
Research on the Internet is very easy these days, and there are combinations of websites out there for your research.
Often, great scientific research data is posted online by universities and schools. This is very generous, and so many users, including us, appreciate this data. Today, as with WordPress 4.1.1โs Insect Research Primer Tutorial, we found the Insects A to Z : Find : Insects : University of Minnesota Extension website irresistably great research data for the web application today.
Augmenting this technical specialized research data are the generic (but also extending to the technical and specialized) information sources like โฆ
- the encyclopaedic data sources, our favourite being Wikipedia
- the search engines, our favourite being Google
We find the combination of that really technical university research data in combination with a more generic image search on Google a fairly potently good combination of research tools โฆ
โฆ in coming up with todayโs web application, that being research into Amphibians. We also add an interface to the recent โKaraoke via YouTube APIโ (put to this different purpose) interface that we last talked about with Karaoke via YouTube API in Iframe Email Tutorial, for video lookup functionality, as well. This required the HTML and Javascript and CSS karaoke_youtube_apihtm to change in thisway for this interfacing logic.
Guess the bottom line with research like this, or anything, is, the balance between โinformation overloadโ and โinformation accuracyโ. We think you can miss out on interesting things if you become too snobbish to look at research websites that you have been told โnot to visitโ because they are not highbrow enough for some in depth research youโre doing. Think, for us, itโs more the case that you need to gain experience over time of what looks good and isnโt, rather than dismissing it out of hand.
Research websites like Wikipedia tackle this challenge by opening up the writing of content, and the subsequent chance to critique that content, to the general public, and youโll often see that results of that process up the top of the article for all to see. Then it is up to you to see what you believe or not by reading the article โฆ or not.
Anyway, hope you enjoy todayโs Amphibian webapplication and/or its associated HTML and Javascript and jQuery Ajax inspired amphibian_lookup
html programming source code.
