I’ll have to admit to being not up with the latest to do with online gaming, but rest assured, it is becoming huge, and the aspects of it starting to resemble “organized sport” is growing and growing, to the effect that the commentary of games when you log on to some of these websites is just remarkable, and often hugely entertaining.
In many respects, for many young people, online gaming is replacing television as an entertainment, because of its interactivity, collaboration, tactics, interest, colour and pizzazz … I’m guessing.
The huge phenomenon that is Minecraft in the world of collaborative online learning and gaming, generally for the younger crowd, is driving some of this, with expertise feeding expertise around the world.
In Australia, the ABC program Good Game is a great resource for keeping up to date in this huge topic area.
