There are new eCommerce websites by the day. These websites have various degrees of sophistication but a lot will have used PayPal’s HTML website button functionality to make the collection of money easier.
So visit the PayPal information page here to cut to the chase regarding this.
As a business you will probably want to be a “merchant” in PayPal’s eyes. Even if you run a blog, and have something to sell, you may think that eCommerce is beyond you, but you should remember that if you have a bank account in your own name, with no ambiguity, the charges to use PayPal can be as little as “nothing”, and, apart from “less than nothing”, that is not much, unless, of course you talk about “a little less than less than nothing”.
Have a look at the PayPal link above and you will see that there are a lot of different options for your needs including PayPal’s Classic API section for web developers. There are rules not to contravene in terms of the use of these buttons, but not so much that the integration of the buttons onto your website will grate (for the vast majority of people), methinks.
