Thinking Security Primer Tutorial

In today’s Internet world, as crowded as it is, even before “Internet of Things” make it so much more crowded, “online”, the big trending word is “security” (or two words “cyber security”). Often, up to now, “security” has not been the top priority for software developers, but that is changing as we speak (speaking for myself).

So now websites like bugcrowd thrive offering the service of checking out the security pitfalls, or not, of existing web applications … importantly … before a hacker will.

Concepts like remotely hacking devices and cars and websites is now talked about on a regular basis.

What is current in “cyber security” for commercial organizations?

  • training software developers with respect to security
  • leaderboards of software developer security success
  • liaisson with security experts, as friendly hackers, that subject existing software to hacking scenarios (to test network security)
  • job descriptions like “professional penetrations director”
